This September 2026 post is for creators who want out of a recurring CapCut Pro subscription. We tested it on the job, not with lab scores. CapCut Pro renews. PilotCut stays free during beta when you bring the agent you already pay for.

What CapCut Pro costs

CapCut's own help is clear that dollars are not one global number:

  • How much does CapCut Pro cost (checked 2026-09-16): pricing varies by region, device, and promotions. Check the signed-in payment page on web, desktop, or mobile.
  • Monthly and yearly plans (checked 2026-09-16): CapCut Pro offers monthly and annual subscriptions. Both unlock premium features CapCut lists there (including text templates, video effects, body effects, filters, and 100GB of cloud storage on that help page).

CapCut's Standard vs Pro resource also notes that prices vary by region, platform, taxes, and promotions. Check the amount on your checkout page before you budget.

What "tested" means here

No lab scores. The test is whether the tool fits the job:

  1. Local Mac timeline for a talking-head or screen-heavy take you already have on disk.
  2. Propose then commit on named filler and silence tools (edit-words actions such as cutSilences, removeWords, removeDeadAir with confirm:false then confirm:true). Breath-safe transcript proposals, not a black-box auto cut you cannot inspect.
  3. BYO agent: Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Grok Build, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, or Antigravity on the same 83-tool surface as the UI.
  4. Exit path: export type=fcpxml writes FCPXML 1.11 with absolute media paths when you need Final Cut later.

It is not a timed CapCut vs PilotCut benchmark.

Who PilotCut is for

PilotCut is for local creator cleanup plus an agent stack without another Pro subscription on the editor side.

How we ran the comparison

  1. Open a local talking-head or demo take in PilotCut.
  2. Ask the connected agent to propose silence and filler cuts with confirm:false.
  3. Review the plan; apply with confirm:true when the cuts look right.
  4. Optionally place B-roll slots (propose and accept are separate actions).
  5. Peek the filmstrip; do a human pacing pass.
  6. Export locally, or write FCPXML when you need Final Cut.

Do I need CapCut Pro to use PilotCut?

No. PilotCut runs on its own: local cleanup, B-roll slots, and export on your Mac, with the agent you already pay for.

Does PilotCut meter AI credits?

There is no PilotCut credit meter for BYO agent edits. Your agent bills to the plan you already pay for.

Bottom line
