What is GitHub Copilot here?
GitHub's Copilot page describes the coding agent you already use in the editor and the terminal. You bring that plan to PilotCut. Copilot bills to GitHub. There is no PilotCut credit meter.
How do you edit a timeline with Copilot?
- Open the PilotCut project. The media stays on your disk.
- Open GitHub Copilot in that project folder.
- Ask for a plan, not an immediate apply. A prompt that works:
Open this PilotCut project. Cut filler words and dead air. Show me the cut list first. Do not change the timeline until I say yes.
- Read the list. Reply yes when it looks right. Copilot applies the cuts. Each cut is an ordinary PilotCut edit, so undo works on any one of them.
- Stay on the timeline, or ask the agent to write a Final Cut Pro project from it.
How does Copilot on PilotCut compare with Descript?
Descript's help center says AI credits pay for its AI tools, and even a chat with Underlord draws on them: "each message still uses a few AI credits." It adds: "Unused Media minutes and AI Credits don't roll over into the next cycle." On Descript's feedback board (February 11, 2026), a Creator plan user wrote: "After editing just one video all my monthly credits are gone. This is insane."
| Need | Descript | PilotCut with GitHub Copilot |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays for the model | AI credits on Descript's meter (help) | Your Copilot plan. No PilotCut credit meter |
| Chatting with the AI | "each message still uses a few AI credits" (help) | Copilot bills to GitHub |
| Unused allowance | "don't roll over into the next cycle" (help) | Nothing to expire |
| After the edit | Uploads and recordings draw media minutes (help) | The PilotCut timeline, or a handoff to Final Cut Pro |
Why is PilotCut the fastest editor for AI?
PilotCut was AI native from day one. The agent and the UI drive the same editor.
- 83 purpose-built editing tools, shaped by tens of thousands of hours of video-editing practice.
- Some edits that change meaning come back as a list first. A second step applies them.
- The edit history keeps 250 entries that you and the agent can read.
- Footage stays on your machine.
Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Grok Build, OpenCode and Antigravity use the same tools. Swap the agent.
How is PilotCut built?
The tools you click are the tools the agent calls. A cut you make by hand and a cut Copilot applies land on one timeline. Undo works either way.
The only downside is there's almost no downside; we're video creators ourselves and know what you need.
