Does invideo MCP cost credits?

Yes, for generation. invideo's help center answers it in one line: "Generating images, videos and audio through invideo MCP uses invideo credits." The plans article adds that credits are used for "agent processing" too, and "Unused plan credits do not roll over into the following month."

invideo says manual timeline editing in its editor is free. The meter starts when the AI works, which is the work you connected an agent to do. invideo also says your connected assistant's own plan requirements still apply.

Does Jumper edit the video, or just find footage?

Jumper's AI agents page centers on search. It says agents can search footage by visuals, transcript and people, then "Builds sequences in Premiere, Resolve, Avid, and Final Cut Pro." Two limits are on that page:

  • Agent editing, people search and advanced model options require Jumper Pro.
  • For Final Cut Pro, "agents export sequences that you import; a live timeline round trip is not available yet."

Jumper also says the result "is material for an editor to review and refine, not a guarantee of a finished, approved video." You still finish in a separate NLE.

Is Palmier Pro still open source, and what does it need?

Palmier Pro requires macOS 26 on Apple Silicon. Releases through v0.7.6 were GPLv3; later binaries are proprietary and the repo takes no code contributions. Its paid plans are monthly and built around generation credits, cloud transcription and Palmier chat. Palmier does take Claude Code and ChatGPT Codex with your own keys or subscriptions. We compared it in depth in Palmier Pro vs PilotCut.

What about WeftCut and mcp-video?

WeftCut is a free, MIT-licensed desktop editor for macOS, Windows and Linux that any MCP client can drive. mcp-video, now Kinocut, describes itself as a video editing MCP server, Python client and CLI built on local FFmpeg tools. Both are free. PilotCut is free during beta too, so the choice comes down to the editing surface your agent gets.

Why is PilotCut the pick?

PilotCut was built for agents from day one. The agent and the UI drive the same editor through the same tools.

  • 83 purpose-built editing tools for the UI, the CLI (pilotcut tool list, describe, call) and MCP clients.
  • Named edits propose before they apply. A timeline cut, transcript cuts (cutSilences, removeWords, removeDeadAir), generated chapters, caption import and patch, and voiceover or camera replacement return a plan on confirm:false and apply on confirm:true. Track and asset removals take no confirm.
  • A human checkpoint where you want one. The Core Agent chat panel gates on each tool's risk tier. The agent CLI and third-party MCP clients are not gated.
  • 250-entry edit history that you and the agent can read, plus a peek filmstrip for a visual check.
  • Hand off when you need to. export type=fcpxml writes FCPXML 1.11 with absolute media paths.
  • Local footage. Media and the .pcbundle project stay on your machine. Prompts and any frames the agent inspects follow your agent's provider.
